Heartroom at Thanh Son temple
Since 2006, Heartroom have been working to alleviate some of the hardships that orphaned and children in poverty are experiencing. With your support to our fundraising in 2012 and up until now we have compiled your goodwill and realized it in July 2013. This year we have allocated our support to the Thanh Son temple.

The temple had 107 children (6 months - 25 years old) and 17 elderly in 2010 and now shelters 127 children and 13 elderly. The temple provides food and shelter to all that may come. The ones that arrive to the temple are when parents are too poor to feed them, some are left to the temple because of unexpected pregnancy by their mothers and some are street children that find the way to the temple. The elderly come to the temple because they have no relative that can take care or feed them. Even though they all come from a mixed background, they do share the same fate. At the temple it is the elder that take care of the ones below their age, and they again take care of the younger ones and so on.

The children that live there have the option to become monks themselves or not, that is why some of the children in pictures are dressed normally. The children goes to nearby schools and the temple provide whatever they have capacity for in food and school materials. During time of low food supply the monks go to nearby markets and beg for food.
With the donations you have provided us in 2012 we have rented a minivan and spent every penny in supply for the children.

The compiled donations and budget were 1100 USD! So what have your goodwill resulted in? Well, here it goes:
- 200 kg rice
- 50 kg glutinous rice
- 20kg sugar
- 20 liters fish sauce
- 10 boxes of noodle
- 2 boxes of soya sauce
- 5 kg of spices
- candies, toys, toothpaste, toothbrush, backpacks, books and pencils
- clothes, sun caps, sandals and shoes
- We also gave the temple 300 USD cash for flexible use - putting every penny you donated to work

The Heartroom team would like to thank all of you that have contributed to make this happen. Heartroom is supporting two institutions, and the other one is a monastery in Dak Lak. Next year Heartroom will make fundraising to build a kitchen for this monastery which houses and teaches 90 children. Please continue to support us and thank you for the heartroom!

Make a visit
Meeting these children was one of the strongest experiences of my life. They had such an energy, vigor and happiness when they saw me (a total stranger) that I could not believe the reality I was facing. Merely having an adult to visit and giving them attention was enough to make their day. If you have the opportunity, please visit these children. It would mean the world to them.
